The short version is: I fixed the problem.

The long version is: My new lighting rig came with a mounting rail, and the two screw-mounts that were supposed to arrive in opposite configurations instead arrived in the same configuration. While unscrewing one, I realized the metal of the screw was likely stronger than the metal of the rail.
